Dangerous Goods Handling Warehouse & Loading Personnel
 
Objectives

 

After the completion of this course, the participants should be able to verify that a Dangerous Goods shipment has been properly prepared, and be able to handle a Dangerous Goods shipment in accordance with requirements of the Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Upon successful completion of the course the participants shall be able to:

1. Understand and differentiate between shipper and operator’s responsibilities.

2. Identify Dangerous goods which are; a) Forbidden for air transport. b) Permitted as cargo

3. Under the regulations. c) Excepted from the regulations in all or part.

4. Identify the nine (9) classes of Dangerous Goods by their principle criteria.

5. Extract the relevant information from the list of Dangerous Goods and apply it.

6. Apply the general packing requirements and the specific packing instructions or verify that they have been followed.

7. Verify that the use of a packaging complies with the limitations of the specification indicated on the package.

8. Properly mark and label a Dangerous Goods package or verify that the marking or labeling requirements have been met.

9. Complete a Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods and verify that the information provided on the form complies with the regulations.

10. Properly enter the appropriate information on the Air Waybill or Verify that the information was entered properly.

11. Comply with the requirements for providing the pilot - in - command with the pertinent information on the Dangerous Goods loaded on board his/ her aircraft.

12. Recognize and apply the appropriate State and/ or Operator variations.

13. Accept or reject a shipment correctly by use of an acceptance checklist.

14. Apply relevant emergency procedures.
